...is that you must create your own rules.
It took me until my late 20s to understand that having my own rules does not negate many of the compassionate values I hold, such as empathy or generosity. It just means that I'm nice to others on my terms.
For instance, I am active, but I don't enjoy doing things on my own. Thus, I spend a good amount of time networking and catering to others in order to host social events or travel with friends.
The last few years are all about putting my rules into practice, and I love life because I focus on making myself happy rather than measuring myself against other people's rules.
I thought I reached the pinnacle. In some ways, I have. I have figured it out and am simply enjoying it all. I don't expect life to get easier because I want to give ever much more, but I am excited about the challenges ahead. Let's go!

chasing...
A female friend of mine has been receiving a lot of attention from my guy friends. Unfortunately, only one of them has asked her out on a proper date, and she wasn't interested after the first date.
There is a small window of time to act on an idea in dating and in life. If one does not seize that opportunity, the moment is lost. Mostly, it's the over-thinking in a person's head that ruins any momentum of action.
That popular girlfriend is now considering online dating. As much as I dislike online dating (can we say checklist?), I appreciate the encouragement of proper dates. Until there is an official one-on-one date, nothing moves forward toward a potential relationship.
Life is always giving us opportunities. I choose to take advantage of all the opportunities that come my way, especially traveling. I went to Tahoe five times this season already. It can be work to plan these trips, but the day trips are easy. It's all about finding the partners in crime.
What are you waiting for?!

snapshot
Just like the Blackberry I got for personal use, this blog is another way to keep in touch. Now that I have friends in all corners of the world (and right here in the City but don't see often), writing openly allows me to capture this moment in time.
Right now, I am feeling fine. Falling in love has been so unexpected yet so natural. The relationship is inspiring me to be better. We are two imperfect people who fit perfectly.
All the positive energy makes me feel lucky, and maybe this blog will attempt to capture that magic - how to be and stay happy.
Enjoy this ride with me.
